The MITS Altair was introduced in the January 1975 issue of Popular Electronics and the first units began arriving in customers hand in April 1975.  My Altair 8800 is an early machine built from a kit.  The machine contains only the minimum four slot motherboard, though more can be added as required.  A rev 0 CPU board with an Intel C8080-8 CPU provides the brains of the system. A 1k static RAM board board and a Processor Technologies VDM-1 board round out the inner workings of the machine.
